Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 October 2026 · Effective: 26 October 2026
1. Operator identity and scope
GoCycling.ai is operated by Johannes Bühler, Augustinergasse 21, 4051 Basel, Switzerland (see also our Imprint).
By creating an account, accessing our website, or using GoCycling through any interface, you agree to these Terms of Service. GoCycling provides AI-assisted cycling route planning and navigational information.
2. Route suggestions and rider responsibility
Generated routes, elevation profiles, surface estimates, and navigational cues are automated algorithmic suggestions based on open-source geographic data (including OpenStreetMap) and third-party models. They do not account for real-time road closures, temporary hazards, construction, weather shifts, traffic conditions, or private property restrictions.
You are solely responsible for your personal safety while riding. Always independently assess road and trail conditions, obey local traffic laws and signage, and wear appropriate safety equipment including a certified cycling helmet. You are responsible for ensuring that any planned route matches your physical fitness, cycling proficiency, and equipment suitability.
3. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GoCycling and its operator exclude all liability for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, as well as for loss of profits, data, or equipment, arising from or in connection with your use of the service or reliance on suggested routes.
Nothing in these terms excludes, limits, or seeks to exclude liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by intent or negligence; (b) intentional misconduct (Vorsatz) or gross negligence (grobe Fahrlässigkeit) pursuant to Article 100(1) of the Swiss Code of Obligations; (c) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (d) any other liability that cannot be lawfully excluded or limited under Swiss law or applicable mandatory consumer protection legislation.
4. API and MCP use
These terms apply equally when you access or use GoCycling through an application programming interface (API) or a third-party AI host, including through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). GoCycling’s usage quotas and rate limits apply to all automated access. You are responsible for safeguarding any API keys or personal credentials issued directly to you; for third-party AI hosts connected via OAuth, you remain responsible for authorizing only applications you trust and may revoke connected-host grants at any time through your account settings.
The route safety disclaimers, rider responsibility requirements, and liability limitations in these terms apply equally when routes, waypoints, or navigational details are consumed or processed by an automated host, agent, or client, regardless of whether a human reviewed the route before it was acted on. When displaying, embedding, or sharing generated routes or map data, you must preserve all OpenStreetMap and map data attributions.
5. Garmin Connect integration
You can connect a Garmin Connect account to send routes to Garmin Connect and to import your rides. Connecting is optional, and you can disconnect at any time. What is transferred, what we keep and for how long is described in our Garmin privacy notice. This section does not promise access to any particular metric or a launch date for the features below that are not yet available.
- Courses API — available: we send routes you select to Garmin Connect for syncing to a compatible device.
- Activity API — available: we import the cycling activities you allow Garmin to share and show them to you as rides.
- Health API — not available. The planned use is optional health/recovery-based personalization of suggested route distance, climbing and effort. This is for recreational fitness and route planning, not diagnosis or treatment; the rider responsibilities in Section 2 still apply.
- Training API — not available. The planned use is to publish structured cycling workouts and training plans you select to your Garmin Connect calendar for syncing to a compatible device. Exported data would include the selected workout steps, targets and plan schedule. Workout and training-plan export is separate from AI model training. You are responsible for checking that workouts and training plans match your fitness, health and equipment; they are for recreational fitness, not diagnosis or treatment.
When you connect Garmin Connect, and before any future workout or training-plan export, we tell you what data will be transferred to Garmin, give you the Garmin Connect privacy notice, and obtain your express consent to that transfer. You must not upload data to Garmin Connect if you are restricted from doing so. GoCycling remains responsible for its own processing; Garmin’s processing is described in its separate privacy notice.
Garmin account authorization and optional AI personalization require separate choices. Before enabling AI processing of Garmin activity or health/recovery information, we must obtain Garmin’s approval for the proposed use and any required written authorization, establish the applicable legal bases, explain the exact data, purpose and recipients, obtain your explicit consent, and provide an easy way to withdraw consent. Accepting these terms, continued use of GoCycling, or connecting an MCP host is not consent to this future Garmin processing. These AI consent controls are not yet available.
We do not use Garmin data or derived prompts, responses, summaries or recommendations for AI training, evaluation, benchmarking or model improvement. Garmin-data access through third-party AI hosts is not offered. Exact recipients, international-transfer safeguards, retention and deletion handling for the planned AI and health features, including diagnostics, derived content, backups and processor copies, must be finalized and published before they are activated. General API/MCP access does not extend to these planned uses.
6. Trial and future pricing
The service is currently provided free of charge as a trial during early access. We may introduce paid plans for the AI planning features in future releases. Existing accounts will be notified at least 30 days in advance of any pricing changes and will keep free access for that notice period plus at least 30 additional days of free access when paid plans launch. Pricing changes alone will not remove access to your saved routes or exports. Access remains subject to your account status and the retention, deletion and sharing rules in our Privacy Policy.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as GoCycling evolves. Material changes will be communicated by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, through in-app notices or email to registered account holders. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you may stop using the service and delete your account. Continued use of GoCycling after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
8. Contact and governing law
For questions about these terms, contact us at [email protected].
These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Mandatory consumer protection laws of your place of residence remain unaffected.
